Trek Season Commencement

The early good rainfalls received have got the season off to a fantastic start. Early trekkers have enjoyed the National Park at it's best with some lovely Spring days, plentiful water in the pristine streams and some great close brumby encounters. We are looking forward to an exceptional show of wildflowers this season which should be at their best during the month of December. We now have openings available for our scheduled 5th December ride. Or if you have a group of 8 or more, we will schedule a personalised private trek for you. (How about combining a trout fishing expedition with a horse trek! - we'd love to organise it for you!) We look forward to seeing you in the High Country this summer!

Staff and Volunteer Training Weekend

The staff and volunteer training weekend was held on 26th & 27th of September. All theory subjects were covered including horse management, map reading, radio voice procedure, emergency evacuations including helicopter rescue. An interesting and informative address was made by National Parks and Wildlife Service Ranger Glenn Stroud who provided sound advice on environmental management and co-operation offered by the Service. The staff discussed a wide range of issues, making valuable suggestions as to how they can provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for our riders. One of the most valuable suggestions came from 'Brownie' who has recommended that an operational handbook for guides be developed to account for emergencies. This will be established over the next few weeks. We thank all staff. volunteers and presenters for their enthusiastic attendance.
